Since religion classes have undergone anthropological change, the texts from autonomous literature used in religion classes are regarded with some degree of criticism both by literary didactic and theological orthodoxy (watering down of the Revelation). For the first time, this compendium is to show why and when those texts have been included. We aim to provide certain criteria of literary texts to be used in religion classes in a sensible and competence-oriented manner. On the basis of lyrical and narrative texts from current German literature it will be made clear how religion classes can be enriched by such texts and what methods should be used.
